Matuki is a EPIC 12 piece Afrobeat behemoth with a hypnotic, forward thinking and relentlessly high energy take on style. Led by charismatic Gambian master drummer, percussionist, arranger, band leader, singer and songwriter Ebou Sanyang.
Their line up of sizzling horns, tough bass line and interlocking guitars. Their explosion of life shows has gained them an enviable reputation, leaving you gasping for more.
The band has recently added world class Kora virtuoso Suntou Susso featured throughout the second album. The Kora is a west African instrument and has 32 strings. The history of this traditional instrument spans over 3000 years. The Kora used to only be played by Griots who are African spiritual storytellers. Matuki’s second album will delight purists and excite those who are unfamiliar with high energy Afrofunk/Afrobeat.
